1. How to get traffic to your website by writing superb content
I would call 'superb content' information that is new, relevant, useful, interesting and so on. If you can add in your personality to your writing along with some really unique insights to your subject, then even better!
Try to also make use of great videos, bullet points, interesting titles and images on your pages.
The reason this can increase your website traffic is that people will share content they like using social media. And when that happens, your traffic can increase to an incredible degree because if one peson shares with all their friends, and then those friends share with their contacts... you get the picure. It can all go wonderfully viral!
To make it easier for your visitors to share your content add social sharing icons to your site or blog like the ones you see at the side of this page. You can do this by using a company like addthis.com. They enable you to choose how many and which social sites you want to add to your page which is great.
I have a separate page about how to use social media to generate website traffic as it is such a big subject - just go here for all my tips.

2. How to get traffic to your website using keywords to drive relevant visitors to your site
As you may already know, it's not enough to build a website, submit it to Google, get a few backlinks and wait for people to find your site.
You need to be using the best keywords for your site so that the search engines know what your site is about and can then (over time) rank you high in the search results when people look for your subject/product. Make sure you read point 8 as quality backlinks are vital too, it's hard to rank even for easy keywords without them.
Not only do your keywords need to be relevant, you need to be using keywords that have plenty of people searching with them, (ie typing those words into a search engine seach box) and not many websites supplying them. If tons of other sites are using the same keywords you plan to use, guess what? You will have a very hard time ranking in the search results and therefore you won't end up getting traffic to your site (sob!) as there's just too much competition.
Here's an example: If your product is tennis shoes, the keyword 'best tennis shoes' or 'cheap tennis shoes' may be far more profitable than simply 'tennis shoes' - or they may not be - you will only know which keyword is best by doing keyword research and the best way to do that is to use a keyword tool.
If you can rank on the top half of Page 1 of Google (ideally position 1,2 or even 3) for your main keywords you can create huge amounts of free traffic to your site.
For me, this is a fantastic way to get visitors and earn a passive income.
To get to Page 1 you not only need great content and keywords but also backlinks as I have mentioned already (see point 8 on this page for full details).
This keyword tool is a great way to find keywords that are easier to rank for because they are what is known as 'long tail keywords'. Click here to find out more.
I hope you find it useful.

- Get quality backlinks to your video so it can rank well in the search engines as well as on YouTube itself
Videos can go viral and can also rank relatively easily on the search engines and on Youtube itself so this can be a useful source of FREE relevant traffic.

4. Create Pinterest boards to generate website traffic
I love Pinterest, it's easy and fun and quick! It's also a potential source of great traffic for you. You can make a board about a particular area of your subject and fill it with your own, and other's images. Pin things from your website and upload images too. Repin other people's pins and make comments.
When you create a new pin, you can add a description and the source of the pin (handy if the source is your website!) Get your keywords (yes, them again!) into the description and the title of your board as well as a few pins too. Use hashtags too with some of your keywords and other relevant keywords.
If someone repins your pin, their followers see your pin (and website url) on their boards. Imagine the impact if they have lots of followers.
The other interesting thing about Pinterest to generate website traffic is that your board could, in time, rank high in search engine results.
Let's say your board is called 'free fitness tips' for example - if you can get some good quality one way links to your board, fill it with great content and use the keyword in the board's description and title (as mentioned above) then as long as you have researched your keyword (as discussed in point 2 above) to make sure it has good demand and low supply, you could get lots of free search engine traffic.
Nice enjoyable way to get more website traffic!

5. How to get traffic to your website with a facebook page - here's how
There are a number of ways to use a Facebook business page to your advantage to get more website traffic:
How does this help boost traffic to your website?
Well, in some of your posts put a link to relevant content on your website.
Also, put a link to your site in the 'about' and 'long description' part of your page.
Voila! A lovely stream of traffic to your website thanks to your fabulous Facebook page!
- You can make a page that is full of useful content and get backlinks to it so that the page ends up getting lots of traffic from the search engines. (How? Well, your Facebook page could end up ranking high in the search engine results so you end up getting traffic from the world wide web as well as Facebook itself!)
- Your page can also get lots of 'likes' and interaction from other people on Facebook

6. Buy traffic with an online ad campaign
How to get traffic to your website or blog with paid ads? There are lots of ways to do this, but the most popular are probably Google Ads, Bing Ads and Facebook ads.
Facebook can work out very cost effective but the traffic may not be as effective in terms of making you money as Adwords or Bing - why?
Well, in my experience, if people have gone to the trouble of looking for something via a search engine, they are better potential 'ready to buy' customers than someone who sees your ad while they happen to be on Facebook, where they are not specifically looking for what you offer.
However one advantage of Facebook ads are that you can create highly targeted ads as Facebook allow you to target people not only by age, gender and country but also by their interests which is very powerful.
BUT how do you know that they are CURRENTLY interested in in your subject? You don't want to waste your money on people who were interested in your subject 2 years ago do you?
Now, how about Adwords?
Adwords is not easy to be honest, and you can spend a heck of a lot of money while you figure out what works. I highly recommend you get some expert information about it like this before you spend any money on live ads... trust me, I know from experience how easy it is to lose money with online ads!
The big advantage of an online ad campaign however is that it can be a really fast way to get traffic and sales. And once you have a system in place that works, you can create multiple ad campaigns for any number of websites/pages on your site that you want to send traffic to.
If your niche has keywords with plenty of demand, then Bing is a great option. I really enjoy dealing with Bing, they have a fantastic live chat help service, the best I have come across.
7. Use eBay to drive traffic to your site or blog
If your website is a product based site - let's say you sell children's clothes or sports goods - then having an eBay shop too can be very useful to generate website traffic and here's why:
In your 'About Me' section on eBay you can promote your website's URL, and to get people to look at your About Me page you simply need a 'hook' such as a discount or freebie of some kind. You can then write in every product listing you have on eBay something like 'go to my About Me page for a free xyz'. They will then see you have a website as well as an eBay shop and you can use some tempting wording to make them want to click on your site's link.
Also, every time you make a sale on eBay, send out a business card or flyer promoting your website with their order.
Here's a cheeky tip: Put a few items in 10 day auctions at a low price and use that listing to also promote your About Me free offer so that all the people who see your auction listing go to your About me page and see your website link.
I believe it is also allowed (but check latest policy as it changes) to put a link to a page on your website in your eBay listings as long as people can simply read relevant information/see images on that page about the product, and they cannot actually buy it on that page. Needless to say they will be able to see your Nav bar and can therefore browse your whole site. Very handy way to get more website traffic!

8. Get quality backlinks to generate website traffic
This is too big a subject to go into here and I'm not enough of an expert. It's very hard (yes, that's in bold for a reason!) to get the free search engine traffic without having lots of one way quality backlinks to your site or blog. And if they are just spammy links it will probably do you more harm than good.
However it is extremely time consuming to get enough quality links which is why specialist companies will do it for you for a fee.
Getting your links right is a tricky business these days as Google have really penalised sites that had lots of low quality links. So make sure you do your research if you want to get high search engine rankings.
There are LOTS more ways for how to get traffic to your website like banner exchanges, paying for email marketing, surfing for traffic, free ads...
If those things worked well, I would have mentioned them in my list above...
Getting more website traffic is the most challenging aspect of making money on the internet, so I hope these 8 tips help you to get all the web traffic you need.
PS. Here's a way to make money online that needs NO traffic generation - find out more.
